At that time his older brother Donnie Wahlberg, member of the 1980s boy band ‘New Kids on the Block”, helped him to get a recording contract, based on which Mark’s band “Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch” was introduced. Despite having a bad singing ability, promoters took to his dance moves and a physique they knew teenage girls would love.
Their debut music album “Music for the People” earned a hit with good vibrations and hit number one on the “Billboard Hot 100”, later also certified as a platinum single. The later one “Wildside” certified as a gold one and peaked at number five on Billboard’s Hot Singles Sales chart and at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
